A Little About Me....

Let’s back up to “PRE-keto Greg” -
Before embracing a ketogenic life, I was like much of our current population - consuming the standard American diet (consisting of overly processed, high carb, sugary food & drink), I was overweight, I drank frequently, smoked cigarettes for 10+ years, and was just overall unhealthy... At one point, I realized I needed to make a change. I quit smoking cold turkey and began implementing a “cleaner” diet, which eventually evolved into being fairly low carb (that’s what I found worked best for me). As my health and body composition improved, I also decided I wanted to help others achieve similar life improvements, so I earned a personal trainer certification and began working one on one with numerous clients!

Life was getting good, however, I wanted to do a little more! So in 2013, I enlisted the expertise of a local bodybuilding prep coach and hopped on several competition stages! Wow, what an awesome experience! I had incredible results, met a ton of amazing people, and learned so much about the sport and my own personal abilities!

Very shortly after those competitions, I began self-experimentation with a ketogenic diet (this was before all of our store shelves were riddled with “KETO!” labeled products and all of our magazine covers screamed “keto this” and “keto that”). Keto wasn’t quite mainstream yet.

Since incorporating a ketogenic approach to nutrition, I’ve embraced countless physical, emotional and mental benefits-improved body composition, improved brain cognition/clarity, improved mood, sustainable energy levels, better sleep, reduced inflammation, quicker recovery from gym activity, reduced anxiety/depression, etc etc the list goes on and on!

I’ve been able to maintain a ketogenic lifestyle while juggling a busy schedule, frequently eating ‘on the go’, enjoying life, and improving performance in the gym! I also utilize intermittent fasting for improved benefits and dietary flexibility.

In 2021, I gave the bodybuilding stage another go! I always thought to myself that it would be fun to hit the stage again in “Master’s” categories (40+ years old), but this time with a ketogenic competition prep (versus the common carbohydrate & hydration depletion approach). The ketogenic prep was exponentially “easier” (although NO prep is easy - they are all very mentally challenging), and my stage conditioning was phenomenal! I placed so well that I was awarded an IPE PRO CARD, at 41 years old! Huge shout out to Robert Sikes, Keto Savage, for his keto competition prep guidance!

 

My goal now is to maximize my knowledge and experience to help others improve their quality of life! Today’s “keto diet” reputation has become so cluttered with misinformation, poorly manufactured “keto” junk foods, and misguided expectations, that it tends to get a bad rap and many people fail to implement it to its maximum potential.
